Every day more and more news spreads throughout the world regarding the massive bushfires still burning in Australia. The destruction is at a heartbreaking high, lives have been lost, homes abandoned and countless animals have perished, unable to escape the deadly fires. The beacons have been lit, Australia calls for aid and yes, we at RageQuit will answer.
Reading through the articles and seeing the horrible videos on Facebook has absolutely broken my heart to pieces. The presumed death tolls of these animals sit at more than one billion and with the relentless fires still raging it is very likely the numbers will continue to rise. It has been estimated that a third of the koala population in New South Wales alone have lost their lives, while numbers in other states and areas appear to be higher. The koala population was already a concern, with approximate numbers sitting dangerously low and breeding rates on the slower side. The future of these fluffy, docile marsupials hangs in the balance along with many other little creatures native to the outback. The final total of all the wildlife fatalities will only be known in a few months once areas can be safely accessed and the damage assessed.
So how can we help? Thousands of individuals, organizations, rescues, and charities are working around the clock to save precious little lives. Lives that are incredibly scared, confused and right now need whatever help they can get. RageQuit would like to help as much as we can, even though we are a great distance away from Australia it will not stop us from standing by them. No task is too big when done together, hand in hand we can do our part to pitch in. In support of the Koala Hospital located in Port Macquarie, we would like to announce our new line of Koala merchandise. An amazing team of people have banded together to create our Terry the Koala charity items, and all profits from them will be donated directly to the Koala Hospital. Be sure to check out the Koala Hospital at http://www.koalahospital.org.au/ to see what they are all about and all the wonderful things that they do. Remember every drop in the ocean counts.
